Standing in the Home Park of Windsor Castle, the gardens at Frogmore House have been an enduring attraction for British monarchs and their families since the house was purchased by Queen Charlotte in 1790.

A broad diversity of trees and shrubs is laid out in the picturesque gardens which include lakes, wooded mounds, follies, and other garden buildings. Among Frogmore’s many notable trees are over 30 champions, including Austrocedrus chilensis, Calocedrus decurrens, Cyclocarya paliurus, and Quercus macrocarpa.

The IDS is privileged to have been granted permission by HM The King to visit this private area of Windsor for our one-day tour during Chelsea week, 2027. We will also visit little-known Chapel Wood in the Great Park, which boasts its own rich collection. The tour will be led by John Anderson, Keeper of the Gardens at Windsor, and is being organised by Tom Christian, Deputy Editor of IDS Trees and Shrubs Online.

Attendance
Because of the sensitive nature of our destination, this tour will be unusual in that we will require confirmation of attendance well in advance, so that details can be submitted for security checks in ample time. Once your place is confirmed, it will not be possible to transfer it to another person, nor is it likely that we will be able to fill your place if you have to drop out at short notice, so please consider this carefully before applying for a place.

Location
The tour will take place on Wednesday 19 May 2027, meeting and concluding in the Savill Building at The Savill Garden, Egham, TW20 0UJ, where there is ample parking. Train travel from London Victoria to Egham is also straightforward. Lunch and refreshments during the day will be provided; the ticket price will be ca. £100 per person (to be confirmed).

Expressions of interest
We anticipate this tour will be very popular, so at this stage we are inviting expressions of interest only. Those who express interest will then be contacted later this year with further details, with booking and joining instructions to follow in due course.

Please ensure you include the following details in your reply:
• Your name
• Number of places required (Maximum: 2 people)
• Name of second person (if applicable)
• Your email address
